Steve Sizelove
Finding the medium of hot glass in 1995 could not have been a more
life-changing event for Indiana artist, Steve
Sizelove. The novel independence of early adulthood had
recently diverted his attention from studies at the Milwaukee
Institute of Art and Design and inspired
cross-country travel. While living in Boulder, Colorado, Steve was given
the opportunity to “play with some glass” at a friend’s makeshift
flameworking studio. He was instantly hooked.
Always concerned with quality and craftsmanship in his work, Steve sought
the instruction of notable glass artists such as
Robert Mickelsen, Roger Parramore, Milon Townsend,
Italian master Lucio Bubacco and others. Workshops with these artists
helped Steve to refine his glassworking skills and led to a 2005
Niche Award in the category of Goblets and his
inclusion in Lark Books’ 500 Glass Objects. His work has
been shown at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Kentucky
Museum of Art + Craft, the Richmond Art Museum,
and galleries across the country.
Now residing in Indiana with his wife and three children, Steve continues to
be active in the glass community through
participation in exhibitions, gallery talks, and by teaching
classes at his home studio and other facilities across the U.S. and
Canada.
