J. WAYNE BYSTROM
J. Wayne Bystrom, of Kennett Square, PA, is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. While at college, he earned the William Emlen Cresson Memorial Traveling Scholarship, the institutions highest honor, which enabled him to study art in Europe for three months. In addition, Bystrom is one of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts most award winning graduates. He has exhibited in such eminent art institutions as the National Academy of Design, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the Philadelphia Art Museum Gallery, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and is in the permanent collection of the INA Maritime Museum. Bystrom has many sold-out limited edition prints, and his original oils have steadily increased in value. Over the last five years, he has contributed a great deal of time and artwork for worthwhile causes to benefit Philadelphia's homeless, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Lancaster Farmland Trust, and many community fundraisers.
His classical training and experience distinguish his work from his peers. Additionally, his incorporation of classical technique to contemporary painting has started a resurgence of interest in sophisticated color management and design.
Bystrom’s paintings grace the collections of individuals, institutions and public and private corporations. His works have appeared on covers of numerous periodicals, both nationally and internationally. His numerous sold-out limited editions are continually sought after by collectors. He continues to achieve critical acclaim for his figurative oil paintings. Successful exhibits in prominent galleries in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. have confirmed his growing reputation as one of America's leading realist painters.
