beauty of seascapes, are a direct result of his personal journey from the cold winters of his childhood to the sun-soaked coasts he has called home.

Born in Minnesota, Stephen's early life was filled with the activities that kept the soul alive during long winter months. A profound change came when his family relocated to Fort Myers, Florida, during his grade school years. It was here that he discovered a love for the water, spending countless days sailing his catamaran into the sunset. This foundational experience—the rhythm of the waves, the interplay of light and reflection, and the rich palette of the sky—became the wellspring of his artistic inspiration.

After moving just outside Washington, D.C., in the early '80s, Stephen continued to produce images from his studio overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. It was here that his creative process took on a unique, almost transcendent quality. He often describes how, on a cold winter's day, he will "step into" his painting, allowing himself to feel the warmth of the sun, the sand on the beach, and the aroma of salty spray. This emotional and sensory connection to his work is what gives it its powerful, transportive quality.

Stephen currently resides and works in Charleston, South Carolina, alongside his wife, Martha, and daughters, Danielle and Samantha. He is recognized as one of the most innovative artists in the world today. Each stunning piece is the result of a proprietary and labor-intensive process he has developed, with many works taking thousands of hours to complete.
